After a traumatic event during his residency, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital for a fresh start. Noticing that James is struggling to connect with patients and has difficulty connecting with them, Dr. Harrison (Michael Potts, veteran stage and screen actor), suggests he take a course that focuses on fostering good manners and deeper relationships with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to haunt him when he is swept up in the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, never a rarity) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to slip as his disturbing nightmares, anxiety-induced speculations, and physical injuries collide with the harsh realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles a cast of veteran characters in this unconventional, humanistic take on the genre, his SAINT FRANCES sequel and GHOSTLIGHT predecessor.
