Dreambert and Bedsmith, two beings from the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar city, feeling lost and confused. As panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they may have passed out watching television the night before, but before he can explain further, the situation gets even stranger. A creature named Starlow, from the Star Sprite species, arrives and insists that he is their friend. He says that they had plans to hang out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of that or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander around the city, pretending not to recognize either the surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to communicate with them as if they have been friends for a long time. Showing them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to calm them down. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith are still confused and unable to understand their past or their relationship with Starlow. As the day goes on, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned and at first thinks they are just pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior continues, he begins to worry that something is wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and he wonders if there is something else behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and Wonky, who still claims to be their father, provides them with a seemingly unfamiliar bed. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
